We Are Huntertown

HISTORY IS OUR STORY

Come explore Huntertown Community Interpretive Park and discover the story of Huntertown, an African American hamlet or “freetown” settled after the Civil War. Although no structures remain, local citizens and community partners are working to create a passive, interpretive park to honor Huntertown’s historic legacy.

Located in Versailles, Kentucky, this 38-acre park is part of the Versailles-Woodford County Parks and Recreation system. We invite you to walk along trails carved in the footsteps of ancestors who once lived, worked and played on this very spot. Listen for whispered stories of a community gone but not forgotten, share in nature’s beauty, and become a part of the Huntertown story!
